Strickland Funeral Homes is a family owned and operated establishment. Strickland’s; formerly Woods Funeral Home in Somerville, began its mission in 1894 when Jebb Lee Woods and Mary Jane Sims Woods established their home in Burleson County. The current Managing Director is Ken Wiltz who runs the day to day operation at both locations, Somerville and Caldwell. We are very aware by today's standards, families have more options and decisions to make than ever before in the Funeral Industry. Traditional, Cremation, Graveside, open casket, closed casket, suit or jeans, formal dress or nightgown; there are so many things to think of and often these things need to be decided within hours of a loved ones passing. Not to mention what firm to choose. Sometime, that decision is very easy, let's use the one that the family has always used. Well, today this decision is more confusing than ever. Who do we entrust this task to? Will they respect our wishes? Will they honor our loved one? To these questions we say a very resounding; Strickland Funeral Home! We have the traditional values and the modern ideas as well as the ability to merge the two together. We will listen to the families needs and wishes, and between the two parties we will make a service that honors and reflects the desire of the family and leaves a lasting Tribute to their loved one. The traditional funeral is a staple of what we honor at Strickland Funeral Home, however we have seen a trend towards something different. That may mean a graveside with military honors, balloon release or dove release, or maybe cremation is your option. The Service doesn't have to be just Cremation, you have options. Viewing, family gathering or memorial services are other choices available. Maybe you have thought you would like to do something different. If this is something on your mind, please come by the office and we can discuss it and see if we can put your ideas into motion.
